Day 8, September 22, 2009

No new news for today. Want you all to know we read all your comments. Love the humor and encouragement. It really feeds us.

So...on with the tumor humor for today!

We have a very well-intentioned friend who truly wants to pray for healing, and the miracle that a goiter brings at this point in our lives. She really is sweet, but is having one hell of a time remembering what to pray for. Kim patiently reminds her that it is a goiter, because really, who are we to turn down a prayer, right? She excitedly called today asking if there was news from the doctor...there wasn't. Her response..."This is killing me. I'll just keep praying for gargoyles!"

So...for those of you keeping score at home...here is the scale for now.

Worst - Cancer
Better - Gargoyles
Best - Goiter

Hope this clears things up!

Have as blessed a day as we have been having knowing all of you.

Steve

  1. Steve and Kim – what a gift you have given all of us by being so open and honest, and by keeping your sense of humor (and making us all laugh and giggle until we cry!). Thank you for reminding us what prayer, positive thinking and a good laugh can do when one is faced with huge challenges. You two are incredible people!

  2. Steve,

We have never met and you can add Indiana to the prayer state list. I am an OLD friend of Kim's dad. We were stationed in Southeast Asia together. He probably has a few stories (if he can remember)that may or may not still be classified. Anyway, I have been following this whole process since Rene informed me of it. I went through it with my first wife (this in not meant to be a downer) so I fully understand what you and Kim are experiencing. I also have spent the last 40 years in the medical and dental professions so I understand from that aspect too. I am not a doctor, just a guy with lots of experience in a number of areas. I love the diarrhea comment. The surgeon asked my wife about 5000 questions initially and one was, "So, your poop looks the same as it did yesterday?" I almost hurt myself trying not to laugh. Speaking of laughter, keep it up. There is nothing like faith, hope and laughter to start the day. God bless and I am hoping for the goiter or gargoyles.

  3. Praying so hard and now laughing on top of that... I think it's causing me to develop a goiter - no gargoyle - no hernia??? Oh well, you get the idea :) Love you!

  4. I am laughing so hard, but also very anxious about tomorrow's news. I will be thinking about you all day and checking for the update often. One question... what will we call ourselves when we find out it's a goiter? :0) Big hug!
